Offsuit is an unassuming pub situated inside Troquet on South’s French cafe, sandwiched between FiDi and Chinatown in Boston’s increasingly emerging Leather District. A backdoor entrance offers a very personal experience, with burgundy walls, leather love seats, and spinning vinyl evoking the somber atmosphere of a Prohibition-era speakeasy. At this modest, 20-seat eatery, order from a list of classics or go with the bartender’s recommendation; the beverage directors create seasonal creative creations.

There will be a selection of fare from chef Tyler Stout, things like yakitori, a Chicago-style pork chop sandwich, charcuterie and cheese, crispy pig ears, a double burger, and more, and the real focus is the cocktail menu. One of the drinks on the menu includes the Lounge Act, which uses chamomile-infused apple brandy, a little dry curaçao to impart orange notes, and falernum, which is a popular ingredient in tiki drinks. It is served on a big rock of ice. Opening Ceremony is a Rittenhouse rye cocktail served with fresh ginger juice, lime, and Aperol. The drink menu will also include PBR and five or six wines-by-the-glass.

Drink, this underground bar has been firmly planted at the top of local and national cocktail enthusiasts’ must-see lists for the personal approach to mixology. Master bartenders present patrons not with a menu but with an ear to listen to each imbiber’s preferences, crafting artisanal tipples from their stock of premium spirits and mixers.

A bar entirely dedicated to the craft of the cocktail, Drink blends time-honored techniques and the classic cocktails of the prohibition era with modern innovation and the very best artisanal ingredients. The drink also offers a thoughtful collection of white, red, and sparkling wines, and a selection of various styles of craft beer. The interior of Drink, designed by Cheryl and Jeffrey Katz, reflects the roughelegant industrial feel of the Fort Point neighborhood and preserves the fantastic history of this building, once a wool warehouse. Inspired by the importance of community, Drink’s bar weaves throughout the room, creating six corners for guests to comfortably gather and enjoy some great tasting cocktails.

haley.henry is a wine bar in the heart of Downtown Crossing. Established in 2016, it is a magical place, where laughs are had, plans are made and neighbors come together to toast one another’s health. It is meant to educate, inspire & introduce new wines and experiences to whoever walks through the door. Tinned fish, charcuterie, and other luxurious small plates set the stage for unique wines at this Downtown Crossing wine bar.

The stars of the list of primarily natural wines are small producers, particularly female winemakers. If you’re unfamiliar with natural wines, the pleasant staff is happy to assist you. Choose from the selection of wines by the glass, or if you commit to two glasses, they’ll open any available bottle for you. There’s also a solid craft beer list for those non-wine-drinking guests. They take great delight in the fact that their wine list rotates on a regular basis. They source small production/natural wines from throughout the world, allowing you to discover and learn about these hidden gems.

Bukowski Tavern

Named after Charles Bukowski, the underground poet and novelist of Barfly fame, Bukowski Tavern is one of the most unique of all the joints. By the looks of it, you might think you’d only find PBR and High Life, but the draught and bottle list are extensive and focused on hard-to-find craft beers. Much of the list features regional brews, and the styles represented will satisfy all tastes. If you can’t choose, chat with a knowledgeable bartender or just spin the Wheel of Beer and let fate decide.

The tall oak bar on one side is flanked by 18 stainless steel stools with black vinyl seats. As you enter, there’s a little L with two stools on your immediate left. On the clean stainless steel walls, the back bar contains wood shelves and big wooden “cribs” with beer bottles. Tables are dispersed over the well-worn wide plank floors, along cherry walls, where one can feel the pulse of Boston’s urbanity by looking out the windows to the aforementioned highway and metro. The low, massive wood-beamed ceilings with dangling silver mugs, mixed with rich accent colors, create an intimate, warm atmosphere.
