LA Fitness, which was founded in 1984, now has over 690 locations in the United States and Canada. Most major cities have LA Fitness locations, which are usually in shopping malls or other high-traffic areas. One of the reasons people join here is because of the easy access.
When you walk into a LA Fitness, it seems like you’ve walked into a fully-loaded clubhouse full of pleasant people. They all look the same. Some of them even feature an outside pool. The restrooms and locker rooms are spotless and big. The equipment is kept in excellent operating order, and the locker room is kept clean and in excellent condition. The staff is also kind and helpful. Racketball, full-court basketball, a swimming pool, steam room, and whirlpool, two workout rooms for classes, and a dedicated fitness training facility to be used with a trainer are among the many amenities available.
A monthly membership costs around $30, plus additional fees if you wish to use more than one LA Fitness location. In addition to workout equipment, the fitness center offers group courses, basketball, racquetball, heated pools, personal training, and children’s activities. LA Fitness announced in January 2020 that several of its locations would be rebranded as Esporta Fitness.
Life Time Fitness
Life Time Fitness, which was founded in 1993, has over 150 locations including gym facilities, pools, spas, cafes, tennis courts, and boutiques. In addition to these, the group has a number of locations with housing and co-working spaces adjacent to its fitness centers, allowing it to advance its objective of assisting people in living healthy lifestyles. Life Time offers a variety of membership options, including a digital version that includes virtual training, Apple Fitness+, on-demand, and live streaming fitness courses, and more.
There are two more in-person options: a basic membership that includes everything you get with a digital subscription plus access to fitness clubs, and a signature level that includes limitless group training classes. This is an excellent health club. The club contains everything a person requires for a program. Swimming pools and activities are available for children. While you work out, your child will be cared for. The entire facility is clean, including all of the courts, from basketball to racquetball.
24 Hour Fitness
24 Hour Exercise establishments, as the name implies, are open 24 hours a day, allowing members with unique schedules to still improve their health and fulfill their fitness goals. Users can also check in to the gym using the 24 Hour Fitness app, which allows them to log their workouts and progress. It also allows users to join in live workout courses from the comfort of their own homes.
If your job schedule is inconsistent, the extra hours are a great benefit. Because it was a franchise gym, there were more selections and greater equipment quality. It also had a free trial period, which was convenient because it allowed me to try and determine if this gym was a good fit for me.
ClubCorp operates over 200 private golf, country, city, and stadium clubs, which is a departure from organizations that primarily offer gyms and training facilities. It was founded in 1957 and is now one of the country’s largest private club owners and operators. Swimming pools, golf courses, restaurants, gym facilities, tennis courts, and even offices can be found on its sites. PGA Tour Champions tournaments are held at a couple of ClubCorp’s venues on a regular basis.
During peak season, ClubCorp employs around 20,000 people and has over 430,000 members. It also has 3,753 golf holes and 955 tennis courts spread over its many facilities. ClubCorp is also present in two more nations.
Equinox Holdings is a holding corporation that owns Equinox, Equinox Hotels, Precision Run, PURE Yoga, Blink Fitness, and SoulCycle, among other health and fitness businesses.
The first Equinox club opened in Manhattan in 1991, and the corporation has since grown to 106 sites in the United States, Canada, and the United Kingdom. It’s known for being a high-end fitness and leisure brand, and membership fees reflect that. A membership costs at least $2,500 per year, and that’s only if you want access to one location.
Planet Fitness, Inc
Planet Fitness, on the other hand, prides itself on offering low-cost memberships that range from $10 to $23 a month, plus fees. Members of the most basic tier have access to free fitness training and standard workout facilities. All Planet Fitness members have unrestricted access to their home club as well as the assistance of the professional staff whenever they need it. Members of the PF Black Card receive additional privileges, such as the option to bring a friend for free and access to any of their 2,000+ PF locations.
The organization provides these benefits to make it easier for folks who have little or no gym experience to feel at ease when they come to work out. Planet Fitness’ motto for all of its locations is “The Judgement Free Zone,” which reflects this.
Planet Fitness is a franchisor with over 2,000 fitness clubs in the United States, Canada, the Dominican Republic, Panama, Australia, and Mexico.
Town Sports International
New York Sports Clubs, Boston Sports Clubs, Washington Sports Clubs, Philadelphia Sports Clubs, Around the Clock Fitness, Palm Beach Sports Club, LIV Fitness Clubs, and Christi’s Fitness are all subsidiaries of Town Sports International, which was founded in 1973.
At all of its locations, Town Sports International provides exercise equipment and fitness classes, as well as swimming, basketball, tennis, and children’s activities. The company has approximately 600,000 members and operates mostly on the East Coast of the United States, with locations in Puerto Rico and Switzerland as well.
The Bay Club is a high-end lifestyle fitness club located on the West Coast, specifically in California and Oregon. Through its amenities, which include workout equipment, fitness programs, food options, spas, daycare, and business lounges, the company’s mission is to deliver the best hospitality possible.
Bay Club membership ranges from $172 to $535 per month, not including initiation fees, which start at $100. Members can join a single Bay Club site or gain access to all of the facilities in an area known as a “Campus” by Bay Club. Bay Club, which has 24 sites and over 50,000 members, was created in 1977.
Unlike many other fitness clubs, Orangetheory Fitness does not provide exercise facilities for members to use whenever and however they want. Instead, it functions more like a studio, with members signing up for workout classes throughout the day. For each class, the gym designs a new High-Intensity Interval Training (HIIT) program, and participants wear heart rate monitors to ensure that their heart rate stays in the zone that produces the best results.
Orangetheory Fitness was created in 2010, although it grew out of Ellen’s Ultimate Workout, a Pilates studio that has been around since the 1990s. One of the founders is Ellen Latham of Ellen’s Ultimate Workout. The cost of membership is determined by how many courses you want to take per month, and once you join, you can use any of Orangetheory Fitness’s more than 1,200 locations worldwide.
