Logitech C920 / C920S

Logitech’s C920, an oldie but a goodie, has been the gold standard for cameras since its release in 2013. It’s still undoubtedly the greatest camera for video conferencing after seven years. Other models of the camera exist, including the C920S, which has a privacy shutter, and the C922, which is intended for streaming.

The Logitech C920 comes in a variety of configurations, each with the same superb 78-degree field of vision lens that can display not just you, but also the room behind you or the individuals sitting next to you. In 2016, Senior Editor Andrew Freedman reviewed the Logitech C920 for Laptop Mag, and he was satisfied with the visual clarity and width. Time has caught up to this camera a bit, in that more recent rivals have made its color reproduction look a little washed out. But it’s still a solid, consistent performer that will serve you well if you want something tried and true.

Microsoft Modern Webcam

The Microsoft Modern Webcam is more feature-rich than its older competition, the Logitech C920, and is typically more available even when stock updates. It also produced warmer, more true colors throughout our time with it. On certain monitors, especially ones that aren’t flat along the back, the monitor mount is a touch unsteady, but with some artistic balance, you can get it stable. Despite this, the webcam’s sliding physical camera shutter gives it a premium sense at first appearance.

It also has a user-friendly app that looks like a Windows menu, however, it isn’t very strong. It is, however, where you will change the most of this camera’s unique capabilities, such as HDR and flicker reduction, which are aided by the camera’s capacity to take footage at 60 frames per second. The 1080p @ 60 fps capture on this camera is a huge plus for streamers, especially because rival gaming-focused webcams may cost hundreds of dollars.

Dell Ultrasharp Webcam

The Dell Ultrasharp Webcam is an easy leader if you have the cash. This camera comes with a slew of capabilities, including 4K At 30 fps and 1080p @ 60 fps recording, as well as HDR and optional AI to keep you in the frame. It also has three distinct fields of vision settings and a lot of customizability owing to the manual focus and zoom sliders that can be turned on. Regardless of the quality, the footage from this camera is crisp and has some of the most pleasing lighting and colors we’ve seen. There are no artifacts or strange pale or yellowish tones here.

There are a few flaws in the construction. While the camera itself is robust and elegant, it has a lot of minor parts that you’ll have to replace. The monitor mount and tripod mount, for example, are two independent parts. You can simply swap them out because they both fit into the same magnetic slot, but there’s a lot more to keep care of after you throw in the magnetic webcam cover. The monitor mount also lacks feet, making it unsteady while putting up the camera.

Razer Kiyo

The Razer Kiyo is an entry-level model for professional streaming, costing around twice as much as a regular casual usage camera. It is, however, significantly more affordable than other solutions, such as the $400 MeVo. Its nearly $100 price tag includes normal 1080p recording at 30 frames per second, as well as 720p recording at 60 frames per second.

It also has an omnidirectional microphone built-in, but the highlight is an adjustable ring light that would come in handy in dark offices. If you’re prepared to pay a little more for a name-brand camera, it will be fantastic for conferencing as well as game streaming if you want to start broadcasting on Twitch.

Razer Kiyo Pro

The Razer Kiyo Pro is the Razer Kiyo’s 2021 upgrade, and it includes a slew of additional capabilities that will be useful to both content providers and amateur filmmakers. HDR recording, 1080p video capture, a light sensor that changes the amount of light the webcam collects to make photographs as pleasing as possible regardless of illumination, and a microphone with headset-level audio quality are among the features.

All of these features come at a cost of $199 and the removal of the original Kiyo’s ring light. While the light sensor is impressive enough to make the loss of the ring light unnoticeable, the camera’s increased price limits it to those who want its extra features rather than a more general audience.

The Kiyo Pro’s features can also be a touch difficult to access, as you’ll need Razer Synapse to change settings like a field of view or how warm/cool your photos are. And to access 60 fps recording, you’ll need to set that up separately in your recording software.

Logitech C930e

The Logitech C930e boasts exceptional image quality, similar to its popular sister, the Logitech C920 / C920S, with improved color reproduction, sharpness, and low-light performance. It outperforms the C920 series, however, by including a Carl Zeiss lens with a 90-degree field of view.

The C930e is one of the greatest cameras you can get at any price, and it includes a privacy shutter as standard. It also has superior noise cancellation than the C920 thanks to its two omnidirectional microphones. The main advantage that the C920 and C920S typically have is the price as the C930e’s MSRP is $129 as compared to $69 for the C920S.

Logitech StreamCam

It also has a built-in omnidirectional microphone with a small noise filter, a white indicator LED, a standard tripod mount (in addition to a monitor mount), auto-focus and exposure, USB-C connectivity, and streaming software for fine-tuning filtering and other capture details, as well as a white indicator, LED. Those who prefer vertical video may physically spin the camera away from its mount and capture full HD 9:16 video.

The Logitech StreamCam is officially priced at $170, which is $30 cheaper than the Logitech Brio 4K Ultra, but since most streaming platforms don’t support 4K currently, its unique extra features make it an appealing purchase. The Logitech StreamCam is a high-end alternative designed to provide streamers and other content creators with everything they need in one convenient package. However, the emphasis here is on convenience rather than perfect excellence.

The StreamCam is a unique contender on this list because it can stream or record all resolutions from 240p to 1080p at any frame rate between 5 and 60. Though most people will prefer to select the top setting of 1080 60 frames per second, this allows individuals with limited bandwidth to personalize their experience.

Logitech Brio 4K

Since its introduction in 2017, the Logitech Brio 4K has been the brand in 4K cameras, but that doesn’t mean it gets a free ride. But first, let’s look at the benefits. The first is apparent in the name: this camera records high-resolution 4K video. However, this camera can also record in 1080p at 60 frames per second, allowing it to compete with the Razer Kiyo Pro.

There’s also the matter of whether or not a 4K webcam is necessary. Because most live streaming apps only go up to 1080p, this camera’s target market will be small. It maintains some relevance at 1080p because of its 60 fps option and high-quality lens, but it lacks the creature pleasures of the Logitech StreamCam or Razer Kiyo Pro.
