Madote
When you enjoy a quiet, serene journey on one of Eritrea’s beautiful islands – Madote – you may explore its spectacular coral reef and bright coast. This little island is part of the Dahlak Archipelago and is mostly covered in sand. It also has some of the most beautiful beaches in the vicinity, as well as a diversity of water species such as hermit crabs.
The Madote island takes its name from an island in Eritrea, located off the coast of the Dahlak Archipelago. Aside from the breathtaking vistas, there are also wonderful areas on the beaches where you can relax and enjoy a family picnic or take pictures. But note that Madote is just a sandbank inhabited by seagulls and grass. Swimming, snorkeling, sunbathing, wandering through the warm sea, or relaxing on the sandy beach are all options. The “island” is so little that it can’t even be seen on Google Maps.
